Frequently asked questions.
What if my child cries?
Crying is communication — and it’s normal when experiencing something new. My goal is never to push a child into fear. We move at their pace, build trust first, and celebrate every win. As their confidence grows, crying fades… and pride takes over. Joy ALWAYS follows confidence.
What should my child wear?
If your child isn’t potty trained, they must wear a 2-ply system: reusable swim diaper, vinyl/plastic cover, or disposable swim diapers alone don’t seal properly. Bring two towels daily.
Do kids need refreshers?
Yes! Children grow so quickly, their body composition changes their buoyancy.
Recommended: Under age 5: every 4–6 months, and Over age 5: yearly or skill-expansion lessons. Skills don’t disappear — but kids need updated practice for their growing bodies.
Will my child be afraid of the water after this?
No — not with AquaSquad’s approach. We prioritize:
emotional safety, sensory-motor readiness, positive reinforcement, trust, and consistency. Children learn they can do it, and that builds joy and confidence in the water.
Can my child eat before lessons?
Please avoid: food for 1 hour before, dairy for 90–120 minutes before, apples, pears, peaches, mango, pineapple, or kiwi for 48 hours. These foods can cause gas and discomfort, which affects floating and breath control.
Comfort = confidence.
Do you allow make-ups?
No — consistency is key.
If I cancel, I’ll reschedule or give credit.
What happens after my child Levels Up?
After Level Up, swimmers can join:
• Maintenance lessons
• Refresher sessions
• One-on-one 30-minute learn-to-swim
• Group lessons (Ages 3–5 graduates or ages 5+)
• Parent & Me (ages 3 and under)
• Adult lessons
Can I watch lessons? Will I be involved later?
You’ll watch from the parent area, and near the Level Up phase, I’ll bring you into the water so you feel connected, confident, and ready to safely support your swimmer. We’re a team.
Can we practice swimming on weekends?
Not during the survival phase. Shallow-water play and floaties undo survival motor patterns. After Level Up, I’ll show you exactly how to practice safely and confidently.
How do payments work?
Weekly payments are due Thursdays for the upcoming week. Cash, check, or Venmo @Becca-McAmis accepted.
